"NEVER HAVE I EVER"
NICHOLAS
Nicholas Whitfield's parents died in a horrific boating accident when he was only eleven. With no other fit or living relatives to be found, he was reluctantly taken in by his father's stepbrother, Kenneth Hale. Taught to follow orders without question and to complete any task assigned without complaint, Nicholas became focused and subservient; and when he turned 17, Kenneth was finally able to taste the fruits of his labor. To put it simply, Nicholas became Kenneth's sex slave, and at first, Nicholas accepted it, greedy for any kind of approval or love. But now, at 19, Nicholas wants to know the world beyond what Kenneth has constructed for him. After much convincing, Kenneth allowed Nicholas to attend college, but on one condition: That he continue to live at home. Yet, despite this restriction, Nicholas is finally being given the opportunity to experience the world first-hand, and his desire for personal freedom is becoming more and more overwhelming.
RYAN
Raised in a picturesque two-story colonial home in a tidy suburb outside of Boston, Ryan Jacobs was the perfect all-American boy. Encouraged by his parents to follow what he was passionate about, he excelled at nearly everything he was involved in: Best pitcher on his Little League team, straight A's in Algebra, captain of the swim team, Key Club treasurer, Senior Prom King... The list of achievements goes on. Hard-working, well-liked, and driven, Ryan always pushed himself to be the best he could be, and to help as many people as possible, and those aspects of his character have only grown in college. As a junior, Ryan has been a Student Government representative, member of a service fraternity, and a Resident Advisor, but his biggest achievement by far was being elected President of the school's nationally recognized LGBT Pride organization. His compassion and desire to help people have carried him far, and his opportunities seem limitless.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY MEET?
Timid, but courageous, Nicholas is walking the line between self-loathing and self-liberation; he looks up to Ryan and his fearless determination. But even Ryan's boundless compassion and dedication have their limits, especially when he's faced with his own inner demons. How far will they go to save themselves and each other?
I can play either character, although lately I'm leaning more towards Ryan. The characters obviously have some background, but many details are negotiable; I'd like us both to pick a character and make him our own.
